Create Room Blocks for Group’s Shoulder Dates

Stay is enhanced to allow users to create room blocks for a group’s arrival and departure shoulder dates.

When the Create Room Blocks for Shoulder Dates flag is enabled, users can create room blocks for the arrival and departure shoulder dates of a group, like the regular group days.

The room blocks created for the shoulder dates when the Inventory for Shoulder Dates option is selected as Block, are displayed on the following screens:

  • Group Rooms Control

  • General Availability

  • Book a Reservation and Modify Stay, when users book or modify a group reservation, the shoulder dates are highlighted and marked as GSD beside the date.

The room blocks created for the shoulder dates are released either by manual release, auto release, or rolling release options selected by the users, as per the existing functionality.

To support this enhancement, the following new sections have been added to the Groups tab on the Property Setup screen (Settings ➜ All Settings ➜ Properties, Buildings & Outlets ➜ Groups):

  • The Groups Default section that contains the following existing options:

    • Require Blocks For

    • Restrict Undo Cancellation for Groups

  • The Groups Shoulder Dates section that contains the following options:

    • The existing Number of Days drop-down list

    • A new flag, Create Room Blocks for Shoulder Dates, allows users to block rooms for a group’s arrival and departure shoulder dates when enabled.

    • A new field, Inventory for Shoulder Dates, that displays the following radio buttons:

  • Allocate: This option is selected by default. When selected, the blocked rooms do not impact the rooms count on the General Availability screen until the rooms are picked up.

  • Block: When selected, the blocked rooms impact the rooms count on the General Availability screen.

  • The Create Room Blocks for Shoulder Dates flag and the Inventory for Shoulder Dates fields are added to the Group Details section of the Room Blocks tab on the Group screen.

    • The configuration made at the property level will be pre-populated for the created groups.

    • When the configurations are changed at the group level, the changes are applied for the respective group.

  • A new Dynamic report, Groups Summary, has been introduced to help users track the rooms blocked or allocated for a group’s shoulder dates.
